*I try to wear things as soon as I've bought it because I've got way too many things with tags on, worse still I've given way too many things away to charity that were never worn. That logic didn't really work because I almost definitely didn't need it which just increased my wardrobe yet again. I just end up buying something based on the fact that it's much cheaper than I would have paid on the high street. *If I buy something, a skirt for example, I put a skirt into a black bag for charity.
In the past this kind of thing would have meant me then having to buy a whole wardrobe around that one garment.
*If I see something I like but it doesn't go with anything else in my wardrobe, I now steer clear. I'm a little scared, but also slightly in awe of you. It's also helpful because I know that the starred items means they've never been worn, so I take time to include them in my weekly outfits.I keep an Excel spreadsheet that is done at the start of each season so that I know what goes with what and so that I don't fall into the trap of 'wearing and repeating' within a 12 week time span. Having said all that, it's still very difficult to keep things under control. It's much easier justifying getting rid of something that was 'in' last season than say a black polo sweater. What I mean is that I usually buy classic pieces which never date which means I don't have a seasonal wardrobe turnaround - a la Primark things for example. I'm trying to buy things that are 'fashionable'.I try to wear things as soon as I've bought it because I've got way too many things with tags on, worse still I've given way too many things away to charity that were never worn.If I buy something, a skirt for example, I put a skirt into a black bag for charity. If I see something I like but it doesn't go with anything else in my wardrobe, I now steer clear. In the last 6-8 months I have given away over 40 black bin bags filled with clothes and shoes that I 'needed' to get rid of. Retail outlets around the world including here in the UK meant that my shopping habits were 'a little' extreme, but I just can't/couldn't resist a bargain. Had a light bulb moment coming up to about a year ago now with regard to my clothes shopping. The shops are always too hot too, and I get hot and grumpy getting undressed and dressed over and over again in changing rooms, only to find that things don't fit anyway. I pretty much hate clothes shopping because of how awkward it is. I just need to bite the bullet, I suppose. Too scared to make a dress yet though, although I have bought loads of patterns. Almost nothing fits, and there are only a few shops that make things that fit me, and I've yet to find a dress that fits. I'm short and very busty, and fatter than I would like, but I also have narrow shoulders. It would be nice to find a shop that caters for short ladies with big boobs and hips and small waists as I'm sure there are a fair few of us about.
I recently tried on a summer dress in BHS and couldn't fasten the buttons down the chest so tried on a larger size and it was falling off my shoulders and flashing my bra straps and was like a tent around my middle I haven't worn a dress in years as I just cannot find one to fit. I find that a lot of clothes seem to be designed for people that are uniform in size. I'm definitely rounded in the hips and bum area
